This is a UNION TOWN

Woody Guthrie wrote on his guitar, "This machine kills fascists." Tom Morello, the Nightwatchman, writes on his, "Whatever it takes." Both of these statements should remind us where we've been, where we are, and what has to be done right now to say "enough is enough." In the Woody Guthrie tradition, Morello recently wrote a powerful song, "Union Town," that could be adopted as a new anthem for the labor movement. Its a catchy tune with a good beat and great lyrics- and a screaming guitar solo in the middle.  The song, and the video that goes with it, remind us of what's going on all over the country- and here in Minnesota. Whether it is a full frontal attack on workers, like in Wisconsin, or the more subtle, nickel-and-diming approach taken by Republicans in the MN Legislature, workers' rights are being stripped away piece by piece.  "Union Town" can be downloaded for free at the Coalition to Save Workers website. Get it. Play it. Loud.

Hundreds of thousands of public employees are peacefully defending their rights in states across the US, and they’re all up against GOP underhanded tactics pushing through dangerous bills. Each state faces their own battle for saving workers rights, but they all share in the belief that ending fundamental rights to organize does not balance budgets. Privacy Policy.
